Tour bicycle hotel & casino poker main event commences

The Tour Bicycle Hotel & Casino is hosting the $1,100 buy-in Card Player Poker Tour no-limit hold’em main event, which will kick off on Friday, Australian time.

This is the marquee tournament of the Bike’s Big Poker Oktober series which features $500,000 in guaranteed prize money. There are three starting flights available to choose from across October 17 to 19 at the Bell Gardens, California casino.

Players are able to utilise the Quantum Tournament format which enables them to buy directly into day 2 for $4,300 on Oct. 20. Day 2 features a single re-entry for the first two levels where players who buy-in on that day receive an average stack of 120,000 with blinds resuming at 1,000-2,000 with a big-blind ante of 2,000.

In 2018, this event drew a field of 524 total participants which created a $642,140 prize pool. Poker pro Steve Jun was victorious in the main event, receiving the trophy and the $149,733 top prize. Runner-up Duey Duong made his third final-table finish in this event in the past four years, where he placed third in 2015 and fifth in 2017.

Bike Tournament Director Mo Fathipour pioneered the Quantum Tournament format which has been a success for this event in recent years. “Players love it because the prize pool goes up and the tournament draws some professional players,” he said. “The concept is getting popular. We had it in Canada, we had it in Las Vegas, and we had it in San Diego. It’s going almost everywhere.”

The main event is the centrepiece event for the venue’s Big Poker Oktober, which is held between September 28 and October 29, according to Card Player.

The Bicycle Hotel & Casino unveiled its $50 million hotel expansion to the property in late 2015. The 117,907-square-foot addition has 99 rooms, including 29 suites, as well as a multitude of interesting features including the Bike Brewery, a full spa and an elevated outdoor pool deck with private cabanas.

The casino is located only 10 miles (16 kilometres) from Downtown Los Angeles.

The brand new Winter Classic has a guaranteed  total of $2.8 million in prize pools from December 2 and 22 and will feature a Championship Event with the biggest buy-in held at Wynn in over five years.
